In Faith in the Storm, Pastor Steve Linton continues the Faith Even in Crisis series with a reminder that faith does not mean storms won’t come~it means trusting God in the middle of them. Jesus tells us plainly in John 16:33 that we will face trouble, but the question is where we put our eyes and who we trust when it comes.

Through Mark 4:35–41, we see Jesus calm a raging storm while His terrified disciples learn that being in God’s will doesn’t guarantee smooth waters~it means His presence is with us in the rough ones. Jesus has complete authority over the things that feel beyond our control.

Then in Matthew 14:22–33, Peter steps out of the boat and walks toward Jesus until his focus shifts from Christ to the storm. The storm hadn’t changed~

Peter’s focus had. There is a difference between seeing the storm and staring at it. When Peter begins to sink and cries, “Lord, save me,” Jesus immediately reaches out and catches him.

Finally, Hebrews 12:1–2 calls us to “fix our eyes on Jesus.” Whether the storm comes suddenly or lasts for a long season, our focus belongs on the One who is greater than the storm. Fear looks at the size of the storm. Faith looks at the size of the One who is with us in it.
