In A Heart Transformed, Pastor Steve Linton challenges us to look beyond outward behavior and recognize where true transformation begins~the heart. In Matthew 15, Jesus teaches that what comes from within reveals the condition of our hearts. We can change our appearance, follow rules, or try harder, but lasting change requires something deeper than behavior modification.
Through Ezekiel 36:26, God promises, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” God isn’t asking us to polish a heart of stone or repair ourselves through willpower. He offers renewal from the inside out, replacing what is hardened and lifeless with a heart that can grow, heal, love, and fulfill the purpose He has for us.
The transformation of Matthew in Matthew 9 shows what that renewed heart looks like in action. Jesus calls Matthew while he is still sitting at the tax booth~not after he has cleaned up his life or proven himself worthy. Matthew simply gets up and follows. His transformed life immediately becomes a mission as he invites other tax collectors and sinners to encounter the same Jesus who changed him.
God doesn’t require us to have everything figured out before He can use us. A renewed heart isn’t the finish line~it’s the doorway to renewed purpose. Come as you are, allow Jesus to transform you from the inside out, and then step forward into the purpose God has placed on your life.
